How can you choose to begin the year with a sense of heightened positive awareness?

Not the scared kind of “Uh-oh, something’s wrong” awareness, but the empowering “It’s a beautiful morning and I feel like sitting in the sun for a few minutes before I get to work” kind of heightened awareness.

You’re half-way there when you’re aware.

When you begin to notice if something really makes you feel good, you’re on your way. The relief comes with repeatedly following the nudge, the smile, or the whisper in that moment. The rub comes when the awareness of something pleasing becomes fleeting, and no action is taken.


A positive awareness like “oh that’d be fun!” if not acted upon becomes a negative awareness of “should’ve-could’ve when I had the chance…”

and no growth occurs.

Silent, subtle self-resentment festers.

As sensitivity and awareness builds, you’re half-wary there when you’re aware, and from there it’s a short walk to relief.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a sense of feel-good control all day long?!

By simply becoming aware of when the potential for even a brief feel-good moment occurs in your day, you have a choice of whether or not to act on it.

What do you do when the feeling strikes you to:

  • Take a few strides and skip through the parking lot?
  • Pause in your day and just breathe?
  • Thank someone for something commonplace?
  • Do something random; follow an inner whisper?

As positive awareness is acted upon, the nudge or whisper followed,

and choices made with in-the-moment bursts of

intending to feel good, opportunities grow like weeds (or magic), abundantly and seemingly overnight!
